Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Playlist

We all know I love these guys:

via last.fm

With that in mind I made my sister a playlist because she doesn't know many of my favorite Dirt Band songs. Plus I didn't want to be held responsible when her kids grow up and realize I've been hording all the good music.

You've probably asked yourself several times, "Why doesn't Pam share with us a playlist of her favorite Nitty Gritty Dirt Band songs?" Well, your dreams are about to come true! Here is that very playlist for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!

Discovering My Love of Glen Campbell's Voice

Here is the youtube chain of events:

By the Time I Get to Phoenix

Anyway, apparently I like Glen Campbell. Who knew? I didn't until watching True Grit (pure awesome) and then listening to him sing By the Time I Get to Phoenix (and you all already know I love that song). I suppose when I see Glen Campbell albums at the thrift store I'll have to start buying them. My life is so hard!

True Grit

What do you think? And have you seen True Grit?

And did you watch any of the other videos? Hilarious!

Misty (1959 or 1975)

When I'm in the car I generally listen to the classic country station and I got a real treat on Sunday! I discovered Ray Stevens' version of "Misty." Now I've loved this song for a long time because of Ella Fitzgerald. But I had never heard "Misty" done the way Ray Stevens did it. And now I'm obsessed. It's so catchy and delightful. But I love Ella Fitzgerald's because it's so beautiful.

You'll have to tell me which if you like one better than the other. This post pretty clearly expresses two types of music I really, really love.

Gentle on My Mind

So today I decided to listen to one of my Frank Sinatra albums that I've never listen to before (I probably haven't listening to 80% of the vinyl albums I own. Don't judge me.) It is called Cycles and it's really good. The most interesting song on there was Gentle on My Mind. I had no idea that Frank had ever done that song. I also have an album of Dean Martin's called Gentle on My Mind. It's one of my favorite albums (there is something about Martin doing country...).

Here is Frank's version:

Here is Dean's version:

Which one do you like better?

I like Dean's better.

Are there versions of Gentle on My Mind that you like better than Frank and Dean's?

Wild Montana Skies

Wild Montana Skies by John Denver and Emmylou Harris

I went rock climbing at City of Rocks in Idaho on Saturday. One of the girls gave us a ride in her Jeep and had this song playing. I've had it happily bouncing around in my head for a few days now.

If you like this song check out this post: Current Favorite Songs.

Country Love Songs from the 90s!

Overalls, mullets, and country love songs, just a few of the things I love about the 90s.

I've been on a 90s country music kick lately. I've come to the conclusion that 90s country love songs speak to my soul. Perhaps when I fall in love it'll feel like these songs.

Shenandoah - I Got You

Shenandoah - Next To Me, Next To You

Diamond Rio - Meet in the Middle

Diamond Rio - How Your Love Makes Me Feel

BlackHawk - There You Have It

Tracy Byrd - Holdin' Heaven

Doesn't that just do your soul a world of good?

And aren't the music videos awesome?
